Kahaani ka saar

It's over a year since I wrote something here and maybe because there wasn't much time to ponder over things or things to ponder over.

Either ways, there are always learnings and lessons and these are the ones that I have.

  1. Focus on people and things that add positive energy. Discard those who sap it out and contribute only the negatives.
  2. It's good to say no, I disagree or I cannot comply.
  3. Work life balance is not an individual goal or possibility. It is a shared task and not a goal.
  4. Focus on some or fail on all.
  5. Always move forward.
  6. Family comes first, friends come next. All else is the world or acquaintances as we call it and it - does not matter.
  7. Focus on what you want. All else follows.
  8. Happiness has a recipe.
  9. Spare time is gold.
  10. Financial planning is a great routine.
  11. Gifting is therapeutic.
  12. Airport arrivals are the happiest places on earth (almost as much as school gates at 3pm on a Friday).
  13. Emails are warm blankets when written to or received from friends.
  14. Work is endless, hours in a day arent.
  15. Thank you and welcome are the best things you can say to strangers.
Fin.

We should all write more often!
It'll come as no surprise but #6, #11 and #12 are my favourites. There's something magical about the arrivals gate. Reminds me of this bit from Love Actually: https://bit.ly/1uwWcVy <3

Women

Contrary to the undercurrents prevailing in the present state of our hallowed nation, I for one have always been grateful to women who are and always will be the better of the two sexes. Here are some who made 2012 an absolute rocker. Their mentions are in the order of how I met them or how they have always been around me. Sisters Neha & Aarti (Indescribable) Renu a.k.a Renuka (Temperamental, Mental, Temperate zone dweller - mood defined) PC a.k.a Priyam 'LongBongSurname' Mood capturer, Part British, Exotic Indian living in the land of the long sword (Oman) Chetasi, Neha, Vigya a.k.a Chittu, Chotu & Vigsy (Green card holder, Fashionista, Dreamer - respectively) Arunima a.k.a Shorty (Lights up your Dey, thinks in technicolour & conveys in Dolby) Deb a.k.a Debby (Thinks Dolby, talks Dolby & lives Dolby) Shilpa (She sings, strums, serenades & is one hot Tam babe) Praachi Kapse a.k.a Ponchy (PR Prof/pract
I often wonder what drives young men to take to arms. I realise they are driven towards a wrong cause by some men who were misled too. In the following lines I try to depict the scene of terrorist who is embarking on his task, in the hope that men do not take recourse by such measures for there are people as well as a power that awaits to make amends. Cowed down by ways of his life in a corner he sits scared, With folded hands and open palms, head bowed down in prayer, Misled by his virtues, his future on the floor, A voice inside that’s telling him, to settle all his scores. For tragedies yet to happen, all miseries he must stall, Rise for the common cause, answer Allah’s call, What he won’t know is that his heart is cold and still, And all that he plans about, is against Allah’s will. Misery in his bloodshot eyes, his lips spell out a curse, Misunderstood, oft repeated a common holy verse, Deep in prayer with beads of sweat upon his brow, he summons his men miss bred, Heaven has been

36 questions

My attempt to do a self-conversation using the Arthur Aron set of 36 questions. Aren't we the most important person to ourselves? 1. Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest? My granddads. They left too soon. Outside family, it would be Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Prithviraj Chauhan, Sam Maneckshaw. 2. Would you like to be famous? In what way? My humour would be stretching it. Anonymity is a gift I am told so, No. 3. Before making a phone call, do you ever rehearse what you're going to say? Why? Not for the ones I love. 4. What would constitute a perfect day for you? Brunch by the sea, evening by a fire and a dinner under the stars. 5. When did you last sing to yourself? To someone else? Last week maybe. High on a new song. 6. If you were able to live to the age of 90 and retain either the mind or body of a 30-year old for the last 60 years of your life, which would you choose? The mind of a 30-year-old. The mind is a dangerou
